I am learning more than I anticipated on DS…….so addicted to this site. It’s just unbelievable to me how I can have so many friends and get so many opinions and suggestions without even going out the front door and putting gas in the car. Thanks to DS, and my meeting sites, I feel that my recovery will be a success for the first time ! I have gone to f2f meetings for 18 years (off and on) and it has truly been such a slow process…….I just feel that I’m getting answers when I need them now instead of having to wait until the next meeting or having to call and possibly intrude on someone. I’ve been told that I’m impatient …damned straight…this is life or death for me. I feel that if I have a concern for my sobriety (whether it concerns drinking or trying to live w/o it) I should go for the answer with all the urgency I had when trying to get that drink.
THANKS FRIENDS !!!!!! Posted on 01/10/08, 09:01 am |

Its a healthy addiction, and i would have never dreamed it, or admitted to it.
I combine a little bit of everything to my recovery, but this has been a pleasure. sincerely, RJC

I have an internet addiction too. It came up in a conversation yesterday in a chatroom.
My line of business is also 100% computer/internet based. I know that people don't like the term untreated alcoholism (/disease of addiction) but I fully recognise that my obsessions and addictive behaviour have been displaced for now. I have trust that my progression in the 12-step program of AA will address some of these behaviour patterns. I like the fact that you are cutting down on you carbon footprint to get recovery :) Although electricity is a factor... :) This site has been amazing for me too. It allows me to vent, to apologise, to listen and learn. I first thought it was all about sickness when I first joined. However there is a lot of wonderful recovery on here too. "Modem-to-modem or face-to-face, A.A.’s speak the language of the heart in all its power and simplicity." (and non-aa's :))
