50 Days sober now. Who would have thunk it? I had a coffee today at the Legion with a few drinking friends. It was wierd. They are the same and I have changed so dramatically. I felt very at ease with my coffee. Two of the folks were just hammered at 3:00pm. Hey, that used to be me. So I left.

I think I've determined that drinking is not a spectator sport.

How do you handle a drinking situation?

" Question for you Hauli----- why are you going to the Legion for? One does not go to the whore house to listen to the music do they? Any place that serves booze is there to serve booze. Go there enough times and you will be buying rounds again. Mark my words on this one..... I have a few more days then your 50. Like over 9300 days more. "

" I agree with Happy. And the answer to your question is, you handle it by avoiding it. I think you need to resign from the treasury and start hanging with the sober crowd. I didn't read your profile, have you tried AA? Usually if you're sober at least a year you're eligible to be your home group's treasurer....and most ppl I know don't care for that responsiblilty, myself included. "

" Nothing wrong with going to bars IF you have a good reason for being there and IF you are comfortable enough in your sobriety.Going to such places just to prove you can is like swimming with sharks. So many slips happen this way and most of the time it seems to happen in the 1-3 month sober time frame.Just about the time we think we got this drinking thing licked. And then-KABOOM.
