Believe it or not, we are going through the same problem. We have 2 sons ages 2 and 3. My 3 year old was born premature and when he came home from the hospital after 2 months and 9 days, he was on a heart monitor. My wife said she was just going to let him sleep with her until he was off the monitor. Everyone told us this was a bad idea, but we did it anyway. He was off the monitor by 6 months old, but he remained in the bed with my wife until last weekend, at the age of 3 1/2. My 2 year old was born healthy and only about 3 weeks early, so he had no problems and has always been in a bed of his own. Since this past weekend, my 2 year old is doing fine in his brand new bed and new room, but the 3 year old is having problems, and gets up all during the night and runs to moma's room. So my advice is as hard as it may seem, go ahead and make your little man stay in his room. It has took a few nights, but my 3 year old is getting better each night. He actually made it until 7:30 this morning, but he come running out of there and jumped in moma's bed until about 9:30. Good luck.

I personally don't think there isanything wrong with a toddler sleeping with Mom or Dad. In my case, my son has slept with me since the day he came home. He will be four in December. He sleeps with me because he feels secure there. I do believe they should be in their own bed by the time they start school. Johnny is now wanting a big kid bed and as soon as we have room for it I will get him one.
If you are comfortable with him sleeping with you there isn't any reason to take away that security.

My daughter who is now 13 months old has just started sleeping in her own bed...I do not find anything wrong with a child sleeping with the parents as she has since the day she was born.. It actually is the only way she will sleep through the night...And plus the snuggling and hugs in the morning are wonderful...

I don't think it's a big deal for a 2 year old, but like Bob59 said, once they start school they should be in their own bed by then. Our son sneaks his way into our bed too. Which is strange because he was always in his own bed, even when we co-slept it wasn't true co-sleeping because he was in his own bed, just next to us. But he's a real snuggly kid and likes that coziness. He tries to sneak in at night, but we send him back to his room and he goes to sleep in his own bed. My hubby then goes to work, and after he goes to work Miles will sneak in again, but I let him this time since there's more room for sharing, hehe.
