my son has a tendancy to stuff his mouth with food...tonite he put too much watermelon in his mouth and although i was watching him, he could not swallow it...he began to choke..THANK GOD he cleared it on his own. does anyone have a toddler who eats more than they can chew?

My daughter who is 13 months always tries to stuff too much into her mouth at once, and often doesn't chew it enough before she tries to swallow. I have tried showing her by eating in front of her biting pieces off and chewing.
Friends seem to give their toddlers large pieces of fruit and whole grapes, but I cut grapes in quarters and sandwiches into small squares as she doesn't seem to be learning, and it is so scary when they choke. I am being too cautious?
