We have entered the terrible two's ~ hitting~ kicking~ torchering doggie's~ getting naked and sometimes peeing in the toilet sometimes anywhere~ temper tantrums~ whining ~ but my problem is the spitting, I just dont have any idea of how to get him to stop. It is a body function that i just get him to stop, the rest of the stuff is getting better with disapline methods but short of taping his mouth closed (jk) I dont know how to get him to stop. I have tried ignoring it, time out& bedroom timeout. the more i tell him its yucky and gross the more he seems to do it. Ideas please?

" Do you freak out more when he spits vs anything else? If so, he may be doing it more as an attention grabber. Is is possible (I dont think I could) to ignore it to see if the spitting stops?

Good luck...this is a tough one. "

" Sorry but I'm a fan of a tiny rap on the lips to get his attention. Short and to the point. "

" My daughter always spits at something or someone she's mad at. I tell her that it's nasty because that word holds a lot of weight with her. It really hasn't caused her to slack off any though. "

" Mine will spit sometimes too. Yesterday I told her that she isn't a cat, because she's taken to spitting on her hands and then rubbing her hands over her face and through her hair - GROSS!

Mostly, though, she stands at the basin while dad or I are cleaning our teeth (Not while she is mind you!) and spit into the basin LOL! "

" My son went through ALL of those annoying behaviours and now he's graduated to nose picking...then he got it in his head to taste a bit, which of course made me scream out "no no no don't do that!". So now his favourite thing to do is get a little booger and taunt me by waving it about in front of his mouth... he thinks its hysterical... "

" They're delightful, aren't they? LOL! The only people who think they are, are people who haven't spent a lot of time around a toddler ;-) "
