Do you mean toy hoover like the vacuum cleaner?
Growing up with brothers and sisters close in age, gender stereotypes were broken, reforged and redefined repeatedly in our home. Fairy princess wands got used as swords and then the princesses themselves grew into teenage skater chicks who stole their brother's sports gear. Great humor in retrospect!
Your hubby might be of the mind that his strapping young son will not be interested in "play" housework, but regardless of whether he is or he isn't I guarantee the little guy will play with that hoover. Just don't be surprised if it turns into a demolition vacuum or a superhero weapon instead!

My daughter plays with toy cars and dolls. Even though she can be a little rough she is still my girly girl. She even wanted me to paint her nails the other day!

My daughter loves anything that has wheels or flies. So do I for that matter, so no surprise she spotted some Formula One racing on the TV and was saying: "Rarri! Rarri!" for Ferarri LOL!
She also loves dolls and teddies. And insists that she should cream on her hands after washing them (Something I never do, BTW. I think she got that one from day care.)
I think they all do at this age. The gender thing only becomes an issue for them later. Some of the little boys in her day care group love putting on fairy wings or skirts during dress up. They don't see anything "wrong" with it right now, because nobody has taught them "that's not something boys do". I hope nobody ever does; wouldn't it be wonderful to have a generation of men who think wearing fairy wings is okay?
On another note, I told a colleague that his not yet 1 year old son was "a very pretty baby" and was told: "Handsome, boys aren't pretty!" At 10 months they are buddy! LOL

I hear this a lot. When I worked in a childcare and the parents (mostly the dads) would come and the sons were playing dress up or washing the baby doll they would go crazy. I had one father yell at me I was LETTING his son be gay! OMG! It is perfectly normal for children to play with ALL kinds of toys! It is sad some people feel this way really....But it seems to be a normal reaction!

my son loves his toy vacuum and the real vacuum. He steals the mop any chance he gets. He has a great time baking cookies... with his dad! (I cook and bake, but not cookies so much). Let me tell you, my SIL and I are both THRILLED we have men that cook, bake, and know how to clean house! (My MIL had 2 boys, no girls) Just tell your guy that you are trying to raise a son that girls will fight over! LOL!

My 3 year old son is in bed right this minute with his baby doll that he calls "Lucy". He has that thing in his hand almost 24 hours a day. Now my 4 year old will not touch any kind of toy but a train or a car, but there is nothing wrong with my little boy, or any little boy, playing with a doll,. I hope your child enjoys their toy.

Men are stupid. My hubby tried that whole gender toy thing until the girls got interested in hotwheels like their big bro.

my little man likes his musical noisy vaccuum, actually he like to push mine as well. He also has a noisy popping lawnmower to drive all over the house. When my oldest was little, I got the vaccuum that picked up blocks and he loved it. Worked great on leggos....His favorite stuffy is elmo, but he does get my old raggedy ann down occasionally. My dh doesn't care for that,I just say he'll make a good daddy some day.He also loves cars, trucks, and now Thomas the train..
