After only 5 hours of labour I gave birth to my beautiful baby, George. I woke up at 3.48am thinking I had constipation. But when I reaslised the pain was coming and going I called labour ward who told me to go in. I was convinced it was just constipation, but when I got there I was told I was 2cm dilated. They gave me morphine (fantastic stuff!) and said they'd check mein 4 hours to see if I'd got to 3 cm so I could have the epi (that would take us to 8am). Contractions felt just like constipation, didn't hurt unil 6am, when I suddenly felt I needed the toilet. Mum got the nurse who checked and I was 9 1/2 cm dilated, 2 hours after being just 2!! She told me no time for epi (I becam quite hysterical). Suddenly contractions were very painful and I needed to push/. My poor baby got into distress and the minute I heard the word episiotomy I pushed like hell and he shot out! He needed resusciatating but I was so shocked I didn't realise. Baby's daddy fainted as I pushed and most people in the room were gathered around him! But my baby is doing great now, he's gorgeous, lots of long black hair, very long and skinny, 7lbs 13oz... I'm in A LOT of pain from my stitches though, incredibly swollen and can barely move, making it hard to care for my baby boy :(

congratualtions! hes so cute! what a great birth story! i had to have an emergency c-section, and wasnt even awake for my sons birth, so i love hearing these kind of stories! (i am a little jealous, tho :)!) congratulations again and i hope you feel better soon!

awww congrats!!! Oh the daddy fainted! LOL Everyone thought my SO would but he was a trooper he watched it all in amazement! LOL Well I am happy for you and thats a short labor for your first!

Wow!! That went VERY FAST for a first birth! You are lucky! It sounds like you pushed pretty hard when they mentioned an episiotomy. That may be why you are pretty sore, but you did it! You should be so proud!

Congrats to you!! 5 hours sounds alot better than my 40 LOL. Hope you feel alot better soon.. the best advice I ever got (ended up with 8 stitches and a dislocated tail bone) was to nurse while laying on my side.. was a life saver (that is, if you are nursing of course!!) He is beautiful!!
