My fiance recently went out of state for what was supposed to be two weeks of training, but since there have been a lot of changes in the company and though he will return as planned, they are now requiring him to go back for four months. Our baby is due on the 27th, which is also the day he will return. Does anyone know how soon after delivery it is possible to travel on an airplane? We are supposed to go out there with him for the four months but I'm nervous about getting our checkups and when and how we will get there.

" I'd discuss this with your doctor. Also, don't want to burst your bubble, but babies rarely come on their due dates, may come early or late. Personally, I was in the hospital for 48 hours after the birth and then didn't really want to go anywhere for about a week or so after due to pain, feedings, etc....

I'd just play things by ear if possible. "

" I know they don't usually come one their due date and I'm hoping it will come late despite four trips to the hospital since 24 weeks with early contractions. I'm more worried about it coming early than late. Just wanted to know how long before an infant can travel on an airplane mostly. "

" It really depends on the airline actually. For most it is 14 days old, any earlier than that and they ask for a note from a Doctor. I am moving from Oregon to Maryland and have just recently been looking up all this info, that is how I know. Check with the airline you are flying with and per Maggielooop, DEFINITELY consult your physician. "
