Quitting smoking while breastfeeding

Ok here it is... i was a smoke from the age of 13-26. I quit smoking March 12 2007, got preg March 23 2007 and have a beautiful baby girl (born Dec 21 2007). However, after a horrible fight with my mother (very abusive and mentally ill woman... started acting like my daughter was HER daughter... got a little dangerous and she is out of our lives now), a stressful move and fights with my hubby, I started up again in the beginning of March 2008. I only smoke outside, wash my hands vigorously each time I come in, brush my teeth and have a certain sweater I wear outside that I never wear around my little girl. However, I would like to quit again because I feel so horribly guilty. Was wondering if anyone has quit while breastfeeding and if using a patch is safe? If not I can try cold turkey... after all I quit for a year before. Oh and I only smoke 7-10 a day (used to be a pack a day)

" The only time I was able to stop smoking was when I knew I was pregnant. Luckily for me I could have told you the next day that I was. But I would ask your doctor what he sujests. I know he'll tell you to go cold turkey probably but he might be able to sujest another option. Good Luck. I only breastfed for about 2 months with each child and I hadnt started again. "
