my son is about 15 weeks old. I am findind that when i put him on his tummy, he does not try to hold his head up. He usually just leaves his head to one side and cries or falls asleep. Ive been giving him tummy time sine he was newborn and I try to do it after his sleep and bottle when he is most awake but noting has worked However if i lie him on my tummy he sometimes moves his head from side to side

" My baby is 8 weeks and when I put him on his belly he doesnt like to lift his head either but when I put him over my shoulder or sit him up he moves his head all around, and holds it up a lot of the time except when tired. All babies are different, and I wouldnt really worry unless your ped says something. "

" My son was premature and it took him a while to hold up his head. At three months he wouldn't really try to move it. The dr told us to do tummy time every day for 20 mins at least. I did it every day. I would put him on the floor and be on the opposite side that he would be facing. I would talk to him and encourage him to look for me. He would whimper and cry a littile (never to much though) and it usually encouraged him to find me. He is almost 6 months old now and he can't hold up his head for long periods of time when we hold him up but he does try. Good luck! if your really concerned about him talk to your ped, he can tell you if your little one is "normal" (which he probably is) "

" have you let the doc know. My daughter was holding up her head well by 3mos. Now I think she is advanced cause she is 4mos and trying to crawl. Not all kids are fat physically so I would ask the doc what he thinks? All my kids did hold their head up well by 3mos. "
