Breathing and Sleep Problems

My Baby girl, Korie, hasn't been able to sleep more than half an hour for over three months. Every time she does, she has strange breathing patterns, it slows down severely and I just don't know what to do.

I've talked to the doctors about it, but they all say that she's fine, and they can't do anything more for her. I've even had them ask for Korie to sleep over for two days, and still they couldn't tell me anything.

Korie has a twin, Timothy, but he sleeps just fine for his circumstance and age, and he doesn't cry nearly as much either, while Korie doesn't really stop.

Please, I'm desperate for help on this one. Can anybody tell me what to do? Or at least relate?

" Have you tried raising her head on an incline? How old are they? Is she stuffy from a cold? Is she just screaming uncontrollably or are you just worried about her respiratory rate? Was she premature since she was a twin? Did she have respiratory problems when she was born? IF she's stuffy, try a steam shower before bed with some saline drops in the nose and then using the bulb syringe to sucker out her nose. Other than that... I would say find another doctor for a second opinion. "

" Thank you so much for your response! Yes I've tried using an incline, so have the doctors. No, she doesn't have a cold. Thank goodness, I don't know what I'd do if she was sick and all of this.

I'm utterly ashamed to say that I don't know if she was premature or not, the mother had a birth away from any hospitals and died before the twins were actually out. I think she was fine when she was born, other than being a chimera twin (she was absorbing Timothy into her, but reached a period of development in the womb where that couldn't continue, before it became anything serious).

However, Korie did fall down part of the stairs recently, and I had to send her to the ER where they found out that she was fine other than a bumped skull, and minor bruises (no brain damage, thank goodness). I don't know if that's been connected or not. The doctors I've gone to say to keep an eye on her if I'm worried, but that they think she's fine.

I'll keep asking around.

Thank you so much, Suzyhopes. "

" Hey,

Just came across your post and was wondering if you've has any luck figuring things out?

Theres a few things going on..Crying, very little sleeping and breathing issues..My first guess would be she is suffering from Gerd. Which is acid reflux. It is easy to go by with out being diagnosed, especially if the baby is not spitting up. And all three things you have described could be associated. I would bring this up with your doctor and see what he/she says. If not take a look at each thing seperatly and try to take notice if there is a pattern. For example does she cry after a bottle? It could be her tummy is having a hard time with the formula..It is common for babies to have a hard time digesting lactose..Okay I could go on..First I would talk to your doctor and mention everything you notice, even if you think it's insignificant, like throwing her head back when your trying to feed her for example...

Goodluck and hang in there!! "

" i asked the doc about our daughter too, as she had breathing issues where she would breath really fast and then stop. it would freak me out. but like you, doc said it was normal. to ease my mind, we got a montion sensor that we put under her crib mat. it gives me a piece of mind. we also had problems with her sleeping as well. we found out that her crib mat was too hard so we bought a much puffier one and she's doing fine now.
