I ended up having a c-sec, but pushed for three hours, so it was almost a vaginal birth! I'm 8 weeks pp and I have tried twice to have sex and it has hurt too badly:( I'm going to give it another couple of weeks and see what happens. So I would imagine it would take a while...

I waited about 4 weeks to have sex, and it was very uncomfortable. It took about 6 weeks to not be so uncomfotable. mich39 is right, kegels help and lube helps too!

Everyone is different with this. I did tear with my first two kids but not with my most recent 6 wk old. With my first I was terrified to have sex but at 3 weeks we tried and went really slow and it did not hurt at all for me. With baby 2 again at 3 weeks and no issues. This time around we waiteed 4 weeks and I felt more tender so was afraid it may burt but it was fine. But I know many say it is uncomfortable so I say wait till you are ready.

I think I was about 4 or 5 wks pp, and it was painful. Our babies are 5months and it's still not completely the same. Also if you are nursing, you don't make as much lubriciation, so you may need to use some.
It does get better, it just takes time! If it doen'st get better, you can always aks your doctor to check things out.

Totally normal. Best advice... use lots of lubricant. In the beginning, your estrogen levels cause you to be a bit dry. Until the hormone levels level off... KY may be your best friend.
