Advice:
how to get him to sleep the night and to bed awake

He's 6 months old and I can't get him to go to bed awake and not cry. He has only slept throught the night once since he's been home.!!! I let him cry one night, he cried for 15 minuttes but he was up 2 hours later. I don't know weather he's hungry or just wants to be up. He usually goes to sleep after a bottle but i'd really like to be able to put him to bed before my 2 year old goes so that I can spend time with him before he has to go. I'm really at a loss at what to do because my oldest slept throught the night at 1 month. I think he spoiled me. What can I do through the day to help him to sleep through the night or even to go to bed early? Please any suggestions?

" thats around the time mine stasrted sleeping through the night our routine (which you should develop your own): i put her down at 10pm so she sleeps 11pm-7am. in her crib with a thick, 4 oz warm bottle. and thu out the day i make sure she doesnt sleep more than 1 hour at a time, lay her in diff spots like: car saet, bouncer, playpen, dont lay her in crib
only for bed time, her bottles arent as thick as bed time and theONLY warm one is bedtime. i dont suggest the rice, cereal or oatmael, too young and could cause her to gain unnneccessary weight "

" I used the baby wise method and mine started sleeping through the night at 2 months. Since then he has gotten in the habit of waking up once a night. TO break that I just let him cry one night. I put him to bed with a full tummy, a clean diaper and warm. He woke up at 3 am and started crying. It was the hardest thing I ever did but I let him cry it out. He cried on and off for 3 hours. some of that was screaming for 45 minutes straight, then finally at 6am, I got him up and fed him. That was over a month ago and he isback to sleeping through the night.
I hope you're gets there soon. Let me know how it goes! "

" We had to deal with Harley having a whacked sleep schedule. My sister was just letting her stay up until she passed out from exhaustion.

We put her on a strict bed time schedule dinner, play, bath, bottle, book, bed. We don't deviate unless we absolutely must. Sometimes she's asleep before we even start the book. Most times I lay her in her crib and sit in the rocker. She holds her own bottle pretty well(a 4oz) so I read while she drifts off.

There are nights though when bedtime is a nightmare. So we go through the routine and then stand in the door way, either facing her far wall or with our back to her, ususally facing the wall. She can see us and we can see that she's ok, she will eventually (within minutes) stop crying and lay down. We're slowly moving out of the doorway and into the hallway. The hope is to one day be able to put her down and have her go to sleep without us being right there.

Hope that helps. "

" How does he sleep during the day? Is he eating enough? sleeping enough? sleeping too much? how are you putting him to bed then? Does he have a set time for naps and bed?
I have used the E.A.S.Y method with my three boys and LOVE it!! I personally recommend checking out the baby whisperer.. it is at most libraries these days. It will help you figure out your babies personality and what type works best as as we all know.. babies are all different and what works for one, may not for another. Within three days I have had a new babies! Last night my 7 week old slept 7 1/2 hours.. I did some oops with him earlier so he is on day two of our three days. HTH! "
