" It is considered normal for kids to rebel and this is all part of that. Apparently they do grow out of it and become reasonable adults, we hope. When my son gives me an earful I go somewhere else and when he can talk to me in a civil manor then I will listen. I try not to get upset and stay cool cos I don't want him to see he has any power over me with his cruel words but he knows I find it unaccepteable. He does apologise sometimes. I would stick with it. It may not be nice but they have to learn and home is the best place. Stand your ground by all means, be clear about what you expect or what is acceptable. Keep talking, most importantly. Good luck. "
