" Mine is 9 weeks old and he's been sleeping in his own room since he was about 4 weeks old. I think "crying to sleep" and "sleeping through the night" are very vague terms really. Some say sleeping through the night are 4-5 hour stretches, for others it means 8 hours. Mine is waking up once or twice a night, it's never the same. Anyway, he goes to sleep on his own. And sometimes he will cry for a couple of minutes, simply because he's over tired. But I will not let him cry when it's the crying that's like screaming and where he gets all red in the face. Then I go in to be with him and leave the room again. ....Do you swaddle your baby at night? That makes a HUGE difference in calming your baby at night as well and sleeping longer. We've been doing that since the beginning. We went from 2-3 hour stretches to anywhere between 5-7 hour stretches now. P.S. My pediatritian said to let him cry it out for about 10 minutes when he was only a couple of weeks old. Frankly I think that's nuts, as babies that young don't even comprehend yet what that means.. "

" personally I think your baby is too young to be going through the night if breastfed. mine is 8 months now and still does not sleep and I have a 10 year old who still wakes up at night so I haven't had a whole nights sleep for years. I have just spoken to a lactation specialist about this subject and she says it depends on the child. I have people I know who say their baby slept through the night at 3 weeks old. I don't always know whether to believe them or not "
