How can I help my baby

My baby Logan is 2 1/2 weeks old. On sunday he had his first bad case of gas. We ended up using some of those gas drops. It kind of helped. Since then at night he has been very fussy. We tried the gas drops and they didn't work. He was still very fussy. The only way I can get him to calm down is by holding him and rocking back and forth with big motions. I don't want this to become a habit with him. How can I halp him to calm and get to sleep?

" you formula feeding or breast milk feeding? if formula try either a different brand or a different one from the same brand, until you find one that sits well with him. if breast milk try cutting foods that are known to cause gas like dairy onions broccoli cauliflower ect... "

" My first son had no problem with gas, he could always get it out. My daughter had bad bad issues, the gas drops help, but only if you use them in time. Just keep rocking him, he is also at that age that colic starts to show as well. He is way to young fpr you to worry about him getting used to being rocked, he is still adjusting to the world and so much more. It will be over soon and he wont need you to hold him as much. good luck "

" Ovol drops are really good. My son had bad gas and letting him lay in a warm bath on his tummy (well supported of course) worked wonders. We did this from a week old. He usually had a few baths a day.
Also a 'magic bag' (the kind you heat up that is usually filled with either gel or grains) on his belly worked well.
Lay him on his belly over your arm. That creates pressure on the belly and lets the gas move up. The pediatrician told us that gas goes up, so it'll pass easier when there is slight pressure and the bum is UP.
Also...try a bicycling motion with his legs. "

" Ovol drops work well.
If oyu are nursing, cut dairy, corn, brocolli, cauliflower, etc.
Try laying him on his belly over your arm. Pressure on his belly will help.
Our son was very gassy, and sometimes the only thing that helped was a warm bath. We would put him on his belly, laying over an arm and he would find instant relief.
We also used a Majic bag (bag filled with either grain or rice...can buy at walmart) and warmed it to put it on his belly or back, whichever worked best at the time.
And remember that air rises...to keep him on his belly and that gas will come up and out. "

" Sounds a lot like my son. The drops didn't work for him either. Don't worry just rock him and comfort him as much as you can right now. It will pass on it's own and he'll be fine. For awhile there was some thought that my son was going to be colicy but he never did, just a fussy phase. Good luck the early weeks can be hard but the pass so quickly and then (believe it or not) you'll miss 'em!! :) "

" A baby that young needs to be held and rocked as much as possible. You may find it frustrating at times, but it shall pass, just as everything else will!! LOL I miss sittingin the chair for what seemed like hours with my little ones and I don't remember being tired, etc.... but I know damn well that I was.

Have you tried swaddling him real tight and putting him in a swing? That may help also. Good luck! "
