My first baby is due July 3, and I am so scared. I worry all the time about whether I will be a good mom, how we can financially afford a baby, how will the dog feel (especially since he is the baby now), and I worry about everything from SIDS to can I get her to 18 safely, happily and with all of the morales and values that her dad and I have. Did any of you go through this before you had your babies?

" Id calk it up to hormones..It helps get you through the rough patches to know that you cant control your brain right now...but Ya I went through this...But as long as you do what you think is right, and you honestly try your best theres nothing to worry about, your about to inherit a terrific new identity........become mom is a tricky task but you learn things that you never knew you knew and amaze your self everyday and your significant other will too, So just relax, and enjoy your pregnancy because once the baby is here you will be forever known as MOM. " you are not alone. i go to bed every night thinking that one )or both) of my twins won't wake up in the morning.
i also worry about our 5 year old and the things that she may get into when she's older. i'm terrified of someone taking her when shes playing in the back yard if i slip in for a minute. I won't even sleep with a window open...even when my husband is home (he works away a lot). I'm worry about fire and not being able to get everyone out or not waking up in time.
There are many more things I think about on a daily basis, but there isn't enough time in the world to list them all!
I think that any good mother worries, but you also have to relax! You'll probably be going through this for as long as you live! "

" I worried about it up until the day I had my son in my arms. From the first moment I held him, I knew that I would do whatever it took to provide for him and take care of him. Trust your intuition and don't be afraid to ask for help. I also prayed and trusted in the Lord to help us through it all :) Good luck! "

" I think it's pretty normal to feel that way. I had fears too. And, there are lots of financially friendly ways to raise a baby...like hand me down or second hand clothes/blankets/bibs/furniture, and breast feeding as opposed to bottle feeding, making your own baby food when the time comes...like a bag of frozen peas cooked and pureed costs probably as much as 3 jars of the gerber baby food, and you can get 20 times the meals from it!!!

I do have some advice for the dog issue though...I read somewhere about getting the dog used to the smell of the baby before you return from the hospital. What we did was had the baby wear a sleeper in the hospital, then DH took it home and let the dog sniff it for a bit. She adapted pretty well when we brought my daughter home.

I wish you the best of luck with everything. Becoming a mom for the first time can seem like a very daunting task, but women have been doing it for centuries! As long as you do things with your babies best interest in mind, you'll do great!! "

" Thank you all for you comments and support! I guess I need to have more faith in myself that I can do this, and I will definately remember the dog thing about letting him sniff something the wee one has worn. "
