I was just wondering...my doctor said it's best to not drive for two weeks after delivery. I feel fine and my fiance doesn't have his license so it's been really hard to get to all the places we have to go especially since we keep having to get my sons biliruben checked for his jaundice and the hospital is a half an hour away. When did you drive after delivery? She said the two weeks was because of the blood loss they are worried about you passing out but I haven't felt that way at all. Anyway tia

" I waited the length of time they told me to. You never know what could happen even if you feel fine now. And just remember if something DID happen while you were driving you would be putting yourself, your baby, and whoever else is in your car AND whoever else is on the road in danger! Two weeks isn't that long at all. "

" I was driving pretty much right away. My son was in the NICU though a hour away from our house. Nothing would stop me from visiting him! Just be careful and take care of yourself. Try to have your friends and family help you as much as you can. "

" My dr. never told me anything like that - I drove right away w/ all 3 of my boys (all vaginal births - c/sections are different) w/o a prob, but if you don't feel "normal", don't drive. I recovered quickly. I actually probably shouldn't have been driving about 3 weeks after they were born when I was so sleep deprived, I'm sure I was dangerous then! "

" within the first 2 weeks, there are risks of interrupting the healing process down there due to all the muscles you may use... and worse things if you happen to have to clam on brakes or what not.

It is amazing what muscles you use.. they said not to vacuum for 2 weeks... I laughed and did it anyway- that hurt. "

" i was driving within the week. asl ong as you haven't had a csection (then do'nt do it), as long as you feel fine, then you probably are. maybe take someone along with you the first few times.
and make sure you've eaten and had enough to drink before you go if the doc are worried about you being lightheaded etc. "

" I dove after a week and I had a c-section. Just don't stress yourself out and stop when your body tells you too. "

" I have never heard that you should wait before driving. My doctor didn't mention it to me.

I had my baby on May 2nd, and I drove the day I was released...which was 3 days later. "
