Are we to old to adopt?

Hi everyone. We recently tried to adopt. We were one of two couples. They did not pick us because they wanted someone younger. We are raising a six yr old now what is one more. Why does everyone thing 45 and 46 is to old? If we want to do it what is the big deal? We did not start our family untill later due to my not being able to have children. So we are late in life to have a family.
What do you think?

" Some people are very old at 35. Others are still young at 60. We all age differently, both mentally and physically. Keep trying, you will find the right situation for you if you don't give up. "

" It is just about perception. Gosh, I remember when I was a preteen thinking 36 was too old! But don't give up. Maybe you can change your search or your expectations? We adopted through the state (we were foster parents for 2 1/2 years). It is so much better being an older parent. We have careers, security, and additional years of wisdom, and my husband and I have been together for 18 years. That is the stability that we give to our son. That is the stability that you can provide a child. Don't give up if it is something you really want and really know you can do. "

I am 44 my husband is 45 and we are in the process of adopting our 23 month old grand daughter....we;ve had her since she was 10 days old...long story...as long as you have no major health problems I see no reason why you cannot adopt in your 40's...good luck to you! " As a BIRTH MOM and today a 42 yr. old myself I got to say I rather have someone your ages then some WILD HAIRED UNSTABLE youngens raise a child!
TODAY 2008 couples WAIT til they are settled and MORE "ALL AROUND" stable to start and raise a family!
So DROP THE THOUGHT that you are TOO OLD to adopt for I personally think YOU and your husband have MORE to offer a child then you can imagine!
SO PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP!!!
I will pray for you two and HOPE the good Lord Blesses you both with the "GIFT OF LIFE" soon for I personally feel you two DESERVE IT!!!
DO NOT GIVE UP my adopted couple waitted 18 MONTHS before they were chosen by ME!
YOUR # IS COMMING UP- JUST HANG IN THERE! "

" Hey u know what I had a bad adoption experience. My feeling is if u are capable of giving a person a warm loving caring environment and home. Should not be any age limits. I am 42 w/u adopt me. Love, Betsy "

" No you are definetely not to old to adopt. I just recently placed my son with a couple who were 40 and 39. I was never concerned with their ages, in fact I liked the fact that they were older and had been together for a while. The only problem that might arise from the age issue in my opinion would be health problems. Good Luck! "
