Hair Loss After Surgury
Watch this
View More Posts
About 3-4 months after my surgury my hair started coming out really bad, I had long hair so it was really noticeable. I know after major surgury and about that lenght of time it is normal for that to happen because of the stress your body goes through. Did this happen to any of you? And did anyone have any thyroid problems afterwards. My thyroid was checked right after surgury and it was fine, and doctor has not ordered any more blood test for it.

" Not had surgery but hairdresser said the other day my hair was alot thinner he was always going on how thick my hair was and how quick it grew.I am taking this as a good sign the drugs are working.I have had thyroid checked only because my body keep changing its mind on what it was doing but things are balancing out. " My surgery was 10/16/07, on 1/21/08 I noticed my hair was falling out. It still is. My hair feels thinner and baby fine. I tell my endro, I tell my regular doc. My endro just shrugs and says everything is ok, all my hormones check out...my regular doc says it can take up to a year for my body to recover from the stress...we also talked about the fact that the GH may have affected my hair and now it is going back to normal...my hairdresser actually everyone always commented "what thick hair I had" I myself had noticed over the last year how coarse and unruly it was becoming..of course I did not know why. I wish i could recall what my hair was like 15 years ago but I think all mylife I had thick healthy hair so this thinning is wierd...I am not on any meds right now... mctrjt "

" i havent had surgery, my hair has been falling out for the past couple of years. but it is still thick. everytime i brush my hair clumps come out and when i wash my hair it is so much worse. i hate having to take all my hair out of the plug hole when it gets too much the water cant drain down. is this normal to happen just by having acromegaly? my hairdresser sometimes gasps when washing my hair or cutting, but she has never said anything. i think she might be scared of making me panic. but i get strands of long hair all over the place, im forever picking them off my clothes during the day. " Flouncy, In all the research I have done, I have not found hair loss as a symptom of Acromegaly, but I guess it could be, everyone seems to have such a wide span of symptoms, but for me my hair was really corse and wild before my surgury, now I have lost a lot, so I think mine is the stress of surgury.
