Hi everyone. I am a new member and I have a few concerns. I started noticing changes in my whole bone structure when I was 22. The changes happened to me after I was in a car accident. I had birth control in my system during that time. I just remember feeling sick and just not feeling like myself. I felt a weird pressure in my forehead and my nose started to bleed. I looked in the mirror and my face looked a little different and I also noticed a change in all of my bones. I had chest pains also. I also had a high prolactin level which was strange because I was never pregnant. I went to my doctor, had gh levels tested, an mri of my pituitary done, and everything was normal. I ignored it for years because no test proved anything. I didn't even know what acromegaly was until I searched my symptoms on the internet recently. I searched because all the changes started to happen again and i am now 29. My nose is getting bigger, my bones in my fingers are bigger(where I put rings in), my tounge is larger, my ears are uneven, my arms and legs are longer, my skull feels bigger, I have more body hair, my thyroid is enlarged, my feet are longer, my nails are stronger, and my hair grows really. My friends and family don't notice it too much, but I know that there is something on with me. I get so depressed at times. there is so much that I didn't get to accomplish in life yet. i am tired of going back and forth to the doctors and them not knowing what is going on. It is holding me back. They recently checked me for gh, igf-1,the gh suppression test, and more and thay were all normal. I even had another mri of my pituitary gland and that was also normal. I don't
want to give up. It is so hard to deal with though. i can actually see the difference in my nose every morning. My nose also feels funny. I can also see my lips changing too. i am tired of the doctors thinking it could be in my mind. Having breast milk can't be in my mind. I think that something happened to my pituitary gland in the car accident, and the birth control probably made it worse. I also broke my collar bone in the accident and it never healed right and the doctors didn't understand. I don't know what to do. i also need a nose job now but i don't know if it is safe for a growing nose to have that done. i feel helpless. does anyone have any advice?

" You need to find other doctors. Acro is veyr rare ...it migth help to go to a research based hospital. Also I read some where about a pituatary disorder here breast milk was a symptom I can't recall the name. I found a few web sites about Pituatry disorders in general I will try to send them your way. " mctrjt is right on...go to specialist...get different opinions...there are other conditions that have similiar symtoms, (maybe cushing syndrome) adrenal gland tumors, keep researching, you are your best diagnoser you know your body best. Doctors are only human, they make mistakes! Keep on it, don't let them make you feel foolish or crazy because you are not! "
