Dr. Lee is scheduling muscle transplant surgery for my left arm. The muscle will be taken from my right leg. It is a 12 - 16 hour procedure. I will be in the hospital 5 - 7 days. Recovery is about 12 weeks. Three months after the surgery we do it all over again. It is a two muscle procedure. He wants me to have the DBS (Deep Brain Surgery) first.
Has anyone had either of these procedures? The muscle transfer is mt last chance before amputation. Janelle Posted on 07/14/08, 03:07 pm |

Thank you for your good wishes. Dr. Lee has scheduled the first muscle transplant on Oct 7th. I expect to have the DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) prior to that. I see Dr Eskender Monday. I hope he schedules DBS as soon as possible. I'll take Tuesday if I can get it. Doubt that will happen. Doing good though. I'm glad things are in motion to try to do something to improve my quality of life.
