Well.. the title says it all. Anyone (males???) here b/c they made a commitment to God?
But it is difficult! This area has f***ed up a lot of things in my life. It is a HUGE problem. It has led to problems in masturbation etc. It has led to problems on dwelling in fantasies... problem with no concentration and other problems. Problems with me being "sexually repressed." Problem with me blaming God for this situation. Problems with me not being satisfied with my spiritual path or my earthly life! Help! Also problem with my parents and friends and other people wondering why I don't do it... It's really annoying! So yeah. Any guy here the same boat as I am? I can support you as well! I may have problems but I am really good at giving advice. Posted on 07/03/08, 09:07 pm |

Hey thanks for your reply to my post. "Very, very Christian men" seem to be out-numbered by the thousands!
Now about your matter...sex is over-rated. It's like a drug I suppose. In that regard it will definitely be better and easier to remain celibate without knowing much about what you're missing. Since we are overwhelmed with images and connotations about sex daily through TV, magazines, books and general conversation, we must make purposeful attempts to guard our minds and hearts. Be mindful of the company you keep and what you allow your mind to dwell on. Finally, sex isn't going anywhere. It was here thousands of years before you were born and it will be here long after you are gone. There will be plenty of time to "catch up" with the woman of God He sends you. Relax. It's really not as important as society portrays. It's most important to know that God is pleased by your willingness to wait in honor of Him. The problems that you claim are likely only constructs you've created in your mind. Let go of them and meditate on a scripture or song that keeps your frame of mind pure. It takes practice, but it gets easier.

*Raises Hand*
I'm male. Abstaining for mainly religious reasons, and actually in search of a wife--one in her 20s or early 30s--who shares my goals for the future.

I don't, however, feel like it has f***ed me up. For nearly 20 years, I identified as Pagan, and with that, comes a great deal of anti-abstinence thinking, and open discussion of sex (fetishes, etc.).
After I made the decision to follow Christ, I found that sex wasn't such a pressure-laden, or exaggerated, issue. ...but perhaps that's my experience alone...
