Abstinence & Celibacy Support Group

Hi. I'm 37 and have abstained from any sexual relationships for a year now. For me personally, casual sexual relationships (safe ones) make me feel guilty and bad about myself; as a result I get insecure and I don't like the person that I become; which in the end ends up tarnishing the relationship anyhow!

i am not virginal but i am a virgin i think. i am abstinent because i was raised to be scared of sex and its consequences. therefore i could never be comfortable just having casual sex or sex with multiple partners. plus i've just developed my own beliefs that sex should be between two people in a loving relationship and i have yet to find a male that i love and who loves me.

I am celibate because my boyfriend (and future husband) is in prison.

I guess I'm abstinent because I want to wait till I'm sure that I love this person and they love me. Causal sex and causal relationships just don't do it for me anymore.

Although I've only had a few relationships in my life, all of them ended badly. I didn't make smart choices when it came to who I wanted to be involved with on a sexual level, I don't want that to happen anymore.

I am abstinent because I dont want to give away the last of my innocence until I am completely sure thats not all they want. And I know if they will wait, they are more mature and they care about more than sex.

oh hey missknownada, (^_^) i didnt know you were in this group. i believe im the same; kind of. i cant really explain it though; least not the way it should be explained. it seems like the only time sex was ok, was when explaining pregnancy. ive always just thought of sex as being for reproduction from then on. since i dont want children right now, i dont really want sex. i know theres protection, but i still dont want that risk.

i have a lot of other issues though, that 'help' keep me abstinent.

The woman says she's scared. So I'm waiting for her to shake it off.

Why the f*** not?

Partly religious, but partly because abstinence is one of the few things that's truly counter-cultural anymore.

I'm abstinent because I'm not ready. Doesn't mean I will wait for marriage doesn't mean I won't but when I'm ready however long from now that shall be. That's when I'll have sex....till then I'm abstinent =D
