My 15 yo daughter suffers depression & ADD. She was on Concerta for ADD & Prozac for depression. The dr's changed her meds to just Welbutrin 100mg 2X day. They say it works for ADD also. Anyone have any success or tried Welbutrin for ADD??

" no, but i've read that it helps with the dopamine in the brain, which is what stimulants do-or at least that is what i've read. i take adderall and it works for me, i've taken ritalin before, but it didn't really help as much. "

" I was on Wellbutrin and it did help some. I am considering both Adderall (low dose) and Wellbutrin. It has taken me years to figure out what is best for me. It must be hell for a child.

BTW, my son takes meds too... always a tweak in progress. "

" I take 400 mg welbutrin in 24hrs and it does seem to help 1 aspect of ADD if we were to say, there were 3 aspects of it. Then again maybe it's just helping me be motivated, because depression will sure take your focus away. "

" I'm on welbutrin 300xl. I take it in the morning. I most definitely have had success with it. Of course it's not just about medication; it's important to incorperate therapy into the process as well. "

" ADD drug effects are highly individualized. Ask 100 people and chances are, you'll get 100 different experiences. So always follow up with your doctor if you are unsure about any medication.

It never hurts to ask.

I say this because I had a negative experience with Wellbutrin and had to stop taking it. But, as you can see, for some folks it works well. Unfortunately, there is no known way to gauge one's reaction to a given medication beforehand. It truly is a trial-and-error process.

Good luck. "
