Every A.D.D Medication....

seems to always fail for my son who just turned 20 a week ago. I think he's pretty much run the gammit on all the meds around. It seems that every type of medication for A.D.D. makes him so wired and pacey and agitated that he just doesn't want to continue to take them any longer. It's all so frustrating for him, and for me as his mother.
Now he's back on risperadal once again, it's a buggar trying to adjust this medication to so that he won't be to drowsy and draggy. I also don't like that it says he shouldn't be in prolonged heat as this med. can cause rash or heat stroke. This is a tough one as he loves to be in and out of the house all day long. I can't very well make him stay in, so it has me nervous every time he goes out biking or walking or jogging around. I've yet to find a person who has taken this drug for A.D.D. and felt better, I hope to find that someone on here or in person someday. It seems he's either wired on one type of drug, or lethargic on the other, almost a no win it seems. I'ts been a frustrating year of trying to adjust all these different types of medication. We were hoping that concerta would do the trick but of course, that wasn't to be either. Posted on 07/11/08, 11:07 am |

Thankyou for replying, somedays I feel so alone and frustrated. Living with an adult child who has adhd makes me sensitive to others who struggle with it. I appreciate the comments from those who have it and know what my son is dealing with. I also appreciate hearing from parents with family members who know have many good suggestions as well.
