So i have been on Concerta for a little less than 3 months now... and i have lost almost 40lbs...

I have been really stressed lately with a bunch of other things, but all in all my appetite has gone to almost zero!!

I have to force myself to eat because i just never get hungry! Like i went 2 days without eating recently and i still was never hungry!!

So when i force myself it makes me feel really sick, and its really hard for me to get it all down... and after i do, sometimes i throw up, or sometimes i just have stomach pains!!

Anyone else get this? Is it the concerta? or is there something else going on here???

Thanks!

" I experienced the same thing When I took Concerta. I lost about 40 pounds and couldn't have been happier! The only problem is once you stop taking the medicine you gain it all back and then some. "

" well I'm not on concerta, I am on Vyvanse actually my pdoc is upping my dose now to 50mg a day. I have lost about 7lbs already and I don't eat much of anything anymore. I right now haven't had a meal in 2days and still not hungry. Sometimes when I eat I feel really sick to my stomach so I just don't eat much. Plus I'm never hungry...lol! So, maybe it is most of the ADHD meds?! Not really sure though. Anyway I talked to my pdoc about it and he said it is a common side effect of my med but, if it becomes a BIG problem that we will consider something else. So, I would talk to your pdoc about it. How long have you been on it? I have only been on mine for 7 weeks is all. "

" I believe Concerta has the same chemical make up as Ritalin.

Stimulant medications can have loss of appetite side effects.

I take dexamphetamine which gave me no appeitite for 6 weeks. The P Doc told me it should last approx 2 weeks.

I have been on this med for 15 weeks and my appetite is OK, eating well.

The plus side is that I don't snack or eat sweets and have lost 25lbs.

Three months is a concern and you are having physical symptoms.

Sounds like Concerta might not be for you, speak to you're Doc for other med options. "
