" I wouldn't be sold on "Ritalin", there are many medications out there for ADHD that are extremely helpful and Ritalin is only one of them and you have to find the medication and dose that works for you and that can take some time, but when you do, it can be like a miracle. I have 2 children with ADHD, one on Concerta 27mgs (18mgs wasn't strong enough), and my other child is on Adderall XR 5mgs (the Concerta didn't work very well for her and the 5mgs of Adderall that she is on now doesn't seem to be quite strong enough, so we will be increasing soon and we'll see how it goes). Good luck, lylajean "

" This is either a personal or a parenting choice. Difficult either way, especially for parents. So disappointing when people push their own personal choice that works for them, when they should suggest only. Some people respond very well to Cognitive Behavioural therapy only, supplements such as Omega fatty acids or varied prescribed medications, because ADHD can have co-existing disorders, such as, Anxiety and depression of note.
I personally tried Ritalin first, but no changes. Works for other people though.
Second medication was Dexamphetamine(Similar to Dexedrine or Adderall) and noticed significant changes, so did my friends and family. Very pleased with the progress after two months. I also take supplements, 3000mg fish oil, 2000 Flaxseed oil, Co-enzyme Q10, Magnezium with B6 and a few others. I believe these supplements assist with a healthy brain and body.
Finding what works for you could take time so be patient.
Try and keep an open mind and I wish you every success with whatever treatment you decide. "

" Strattera works great for me. It's a nonstimulant. I'm calmer, clearer speech and more relaxed. I also stay on task better. Melatonin works great at night. It helps me relax enough to sleep. Any sleepy time tea is great to. "
