What i was told was where addrell is a mixed drug of more than one drug this one is a clean drug I take it meaning just one drug. Sorry that is what I know so far.

Don't know either, but probably within a month, I will be given ADHD medicine....Adderall XR was Speeding me to death....AND, my Blood Pressure SkyRockted....
Why the change of medicine, and what kind of effects are you having???

Adderall helped a lot..but I'm also on a mood stabalizer, which makes it harder to pay attention. The adderall xr was wearing off b4 the end of the day and it was impossible to pay attention. My doc said Focalin xr would last longer and to try in for a month. So far I like it much better. I can't tell I'm on anything yet I can still pay attention pretty good. When I was on Adderall xr I could tell I was on a med..I didn't like that b.c. I would always crash at the end of the day. Only complaint with Focalin xr is that I get very agitated at the end of the day but better than getting depressed.

Found focalin online and it comes in 4 strengths, 5,10,15,20mg capsules. There has been no research studies to show if its better or safer than ritalin and adderall.. Hopefully with more people going on the drug there will be more studies.

Focalin is Dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride. It is a modified version of Ritalin containing only the most active component of Ritalin, therefore Focalin is effective at doses half the strength of Ritalin. It can be addicting when used for prolonged periods, which isn't uncommon when using any type of amphetamine and it is possible to develop tolerance. You can take it with or without food. It can interact with certain other drugs such as MAO inhibitors/antidepressants (Nardil, Parnate), tricyclics (elivil, Tofranil) and serotonin reuptake inhibitors (prozak, paxil). Antiseizure ddrugs, blood pressure drugs, blood thinners and herbal remedies like St. John's Wort and Ephedra. Make sure you tell your Dr. before combining ANY of these drugs with Focalin since they can increase, decrease or completely alter the effects of Focalin. That's all I have on Focalin thus far. But try looking up the active ingredient online and you may have better luck!

I've looked up Focalin a lot online. I know it comes in 5, 10, 15, and 20mg strength..I'm mainly curious about how many mg ppl are prescribed, due to I'm on 20mg and that is the highest amount prescribed. It kinda shocked me when I read that, but I thought maybe most ppl take more than one dose a day. I'm not very big so I wouldn't think I would be on the highest dose..plus it is a stimulant. I haven't found what the normal dose would be for a teenage or young adult female. I'm very curious about the highest dose ppl are given. It sucks that it is such a new drug. I kind of don't like it.haha It seems to be way less addictive than adderall in my opinion.

Hi Brit My son takes focalin XR 20mg and does well on it. I also have ADHD and I am on nothing right now. It is driving me crazy not to be on anything. I am going to the Doctor on Monday to try to get back on something.
