My son Andrew is amazing,BUT he makes me so mad. He is nine and I can't seem to get him to listen to me when I talk I feel like I am talking to a wall. He has adhd and I understand that, but I try to be as understanding as I can. I tell him things and even tell him how to do it and he just looks at me like I lost my mind, and then when I yell and scream at him he starts crying and saying he did not understand and I feel like a monster.
How do you deal with the ups and downs of adhd and remain sane. I try, but it is making the parent I said I would never be. Angry, hostile and at times downright aggressive. I get so damn mad I cry, I call him names and then I cry again because of the way I acted. I can't seem to figure out how to deal with this... Advice please!!!

" Tonija, just curious, why did you switch from Adderall to Concerta? We just put my son on Adderall (it's only been a little over a week). For some reason I'm nervous having him on this, and am always watching out for strange side effects. I have that same attitude problem with my son (he's 14). Trying to get him to do a little thing turns into a yelling battle, I tend to lose my temper quickly, and we both have to have the last word or be right. I have noticed though, since he's been on the Adderall, he's been more cooperative and less argumentative. Something as little as telling him to get off the phone can turn into a screaming battle. And I feel horrible every morning when I take him to school and we fight the whole way. I hate that he starts his school day off like that, cuz it's not like his day isn't tough enough already! thanks~~ "
