I have been taking Adderall for several years now but suffer with other illnesses so my Doctor said to try Strattera so I did. It is less speedy then Adderal witch for me I need cause I suffer from chronic fatigue do to a lot of pain. Any way,, I gave it a try like I do any new Medication for a month. I do not like it. I find it does no good to help me focus like it should? And it was 40mg and the Adderall had 20mg. Please don't get me wrong. I rather have great focuse then speed any day! Maby its me??? But I find the Adderal a lot better with focus and function than Strattera.. Has anyone taken this too and feel the same as me??

" I started on Strattera. It starts at 40mg then increases to 80mg. I think after a week (or whatever your doc thinks) Anyway, don't compare the two drugs by dosage as they have completely different actions in the body. Strattera is a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. It helps with dopamine receptors. Honestly norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors is a drug that is recommeneded for CFS, depression and a couple other disorders. I am now on Daytrana patches. Which is like a ritalin patch - long acting, so you don't get that "speed" feel with the medication. I liked the strattera but it seemed like after 8 monhts or so, it really wasn't lasting most of the day. So she moved me over to Daytrana. But I am on no other medications so it wasn't a difficult switch for me. I had never been on a stimulant medication before being on Strattera, so I didn't really know what to expect either. I wasn't diagnosed until age 35. good luck. "

" Everyone is different and it sounds like maybe adults like adderal better but my son could not tolerate it well. It took a year and a new doc to figure it out - he cried easily on it and his anxiety was much worse. He is on concerta now and is much better. If he goes a day without it he does not like the feeling of being so hyper. I am curious about the daytrana patches that ksr610 talked about. how do you like them? "

" Daytrana is the only stimulant drug that I have been on for ADD so I have little point of reference. However, I really like them. It goes on for 9 hours. I have not had any trouble sleeping at all. Except I used to take a nap every Sat and Sun. If I wasn't up walking around, cleaning etc...,, I would fall asleep very quickly regardless if I wanted to or not, even with the Strattera. That does not happen now. They have a great website that is very imformative. I think there have been some issues with skin irritation. I thought that was going to be a problem for me in the beginning, but I have adjusted to it. "
