I am a 43 yr old mom of 4. One of my children has ADHD and diabetes. She is 12 yrs old. Not only does the ADHD affect her normal daily life but it also affects her diabetes. She will forget to do simple things like put her insulin pump on after showering or playing on the trampoline. She forgets to test her blood sugar at meals even after being told. I am honestly afraid for her life when she grows up. As far as school she used to do really well in elementary school but now she is in middle school and she is constantly bringing home D's and C's. She does her homework but she loses it before it gets to the teacher. The teachers are always complaining that she is doodling or daydreaming instead of listening. We know that she is more than smart enough but is just a matter of getting her focused and organized.
She has been on Ritalin, Concerta, and Strattera and none worked all that well. The best of the three was Strattera but she started talking about not wanting to live. After hearing about the warnings on Strattera we took her off of that and are now trying to find out if there is any herbals that actually work. Does anyone out there have any suggestions or advice for me. I am at my wits end and feeling so LOST! Pleas reply with any of your experiences good or bad. Thank you! Posted on 04/24/07, 05:04 pm |
