If this comes up twice ...there was a glich in programming...lol
The issue for today is getting a child ready and on the bus in the morning in a decent amount of time!! How can they spend an hour in the bathroom in the morning? I get him up earlier and earlier..otherwise he would miss his bus! But today was the last straw...an hour and a half to eat a sandwich...have a shower, brush teeth and get out the door!!! He didn't miss the bus but had a close call....again! Routine is a must but how does anyone get them out the door before you loose your last marble? I get up half an hour earlier so I can have a shower and coffee before I have to 'get out' of the bathroom!! I don't get it, he is always going at warp 10, except when he drags his heels in the morning! Frustation level very high!!! :o) Posted on 11/09/07, 08:11 am |

Don't feel bad this is the same in my house. AM hours are the worst. he drags his heels till we leave and I am constantly reminding him of what he has to do. ARGH!

I hear you... It gets better as they get older. At one point we agreed to wear school clothes to bed and tossed out any shoes with laces. Eventually socks weren't even neccesary (pew). She had an absentee list a mile long. I would try to get her to want to go to school , she never did. She still takes 30-45 minutes in the shower. She still takes an hour and a half to get ready and forgets to brush teeth. I am not micromanaging her as much anymore (thank God). There is hope, now she wants the perfect attendance record, so she gets up and goes. I do have to wake her at 7 to get her out by 8:30...:)

My daughter is 14 and still does that. Partly b/c of her ADHD and partly b/c she sees how she can entertain herself by driving me nuts. Your son could be doing this b/c he is getting attention and entertainment. Have him take a shower the night before and see if that helps. Some kids don't like the routine side of schedules thus do the opposite.

Well..thank you....i'm not the only one!!! I have tried the shower/bath at night before but am willing to try it again! He doesn't sleep much anyway, and seems to sleep less if possible after having a bath/shower, go figure, I thought it would be soothing and relaxing! But that isn't the case..then he is tired in the morning! i guess there isn't an easy answer. And yes I agree, sometimes i think he is slow just to hear my voice continuously! LOL Then Mommy puts herself on a time out!! LOL

hi, hear you load and to clearly, my son sleeps very little, well he takes forever to fall asleep and a nightmare to get up, it will take him 30-60 mins just to crawl out of bed. And trying to get him to wash and brush teeth just doesn't happen unless I do it for him and he is 10 years old. Then to top that off he is extremly MOODY. Unfortunatly havent found a solution but I do like the idea of sending him to school in pj's but knowing him he will love it getting the attention.
