I have yet to order it for myself but my therapist recomended this as the best and so I thought I'd share the website....

I'm not a doctor, but no where on the "recommendations" area does it refer to medications. While supplements and cognitive Therapy may help.... However, the ADD child or adult is typically suffering through some form of imbalance that needs to be corrected. We were not put on this planet to be in a constant state of distraction.
At the very least, their experience is one that moves well beyond simply being restless and not paying attention. Of course its very difficult to get into a child's head, but do remember that with all that restlessness comes FEELINGS. And the feeling of never being calm and focused is an incredibly difficult and uncomfortable feeling for any child or adult. (I'm understating here) Therefore, I strongly urge parents to try to find ways to find out what theire child is FEELING.... no just what they are DOING. This is critical to their healing process. Lastly, I want to state that unless you have it, you can't imagine it, so take your assumptions and throw them away. No doubt, the experience is different for every child and every adult with ADD and should be treated as such.

Omega 3, 6 & 9 Supplementation has reversed nearly all my symptoms of ADD/ADHD, Dyspraxia and Dyslexia in the past 6 months. I know the FEELING, I had it for the better part of the past 36 years of my life. That uneasy feeling that I was unable to live up to my potential. The FEELING that I simply could not get it together. Of never FEELING calm enough to focus on the task at hand long enough to get it done.
TODAY, I have the opposite FEELING ~ I can focus, remember, act and live like never before. And all it took were some nutritional changes and supplementation and my new life is here. Watch out world, here I come.

funny I have heart disease and have been considering Omega 3 , 6, 9 I think it will do me the world of good and I don't think it would hurt .

I've been taking Omega 3 supplements (1200mg DHA) daily for a couple of months. I won't say it's been a miracle cure, but I'm less fuzzy if I take it! It can't hurt!

I have to add that I recently had an eye exam because I was having difficulty seeing with my current prescription. Imagine my surprise when my eyesight had actually IMPROVED by .25 per eye + my astygmatism is completely gone!
This is another direct benefit those who take daily Omega 3s can expect because the cell membranes in our eyes are of similar, if not the same, structure as those in our brains. Most people are under the impression that eyesight automatically degrades with age, I have since researched and learned that over time, as our bodies absorb less Omega 3s from our diet our eyes SUFFER from the lack of fats and thus our eye sight weakens as the cell membranes weaken. I am looking forward to my next eye appointment next year to see if I improve again!

Moebird - when we talk about Omega Fatty Acids, there are several types and our bodies require a mixture of all of them to function. If you eat any processed foods you are most likely getting an abundance of Omega 6 already (this is referred to as DPA). DPA is what your brain uses to create the cell membranes it requires to transmit thoughts - WHEN you don't give enough DHA (Omega 3). DPA is a weaker fat than DHA. Thus it tends to LEAK thoughts and mistransmit information - sound familiar? ADD & ADHD is about lost info in the brain, the messages do not correctly connect. Thus if you start taking more DHA (Omega 3) then your brain will become STRONGER via stronger cell membranes. Hence your thoughts will begin to connect more strongly, your memory will be stronger, your retention and focus will be stronger etc. Our brains are made of 70% fat and which would you rather it be made of - strong or weak fat. The key is taking it consistently and forever. We ADDers do not absorb enough from regular eating no matter how much we eat, we MUST supplement to get enough (& more supplementation than most).
The Omega 9 is GLA. There is also ALA, though our body does not need as much of it as the others. There was a time when our agrarian diets (back on the farm) contributed a ratio of 1:1 of Omega 3 to Omega 6 in our food intake. However since processed foods now contribute more to the average diet that ratio has shifted to as much as 6:1 of Omega 6 to Omega 3. See the issue? We ADDers do not absorb as much Omega 3 & our diets contain less of it anyway. You can buy them separately in the forms of Cod Liver Oil or Mackerel (Omega 3) & Evening Primrose Oil (Omega 9) or for me I've found the best 2x daily supplement to be one that combines all the Omega Fatty Acids into one source - NOW brand "Super Omega 3-6-9" I take 3 capsules morning & night EVERY DAY. If I miss a couple days I really notice a shift in my brain power etc.
